Chief Economist, ShoreBank
I began working at ShoreBank in 1976, and today I serve as its senior vice president, investments, and have seen the bank grow from $100 million in assets to $2.4 billion.
I manage fixed-income investment portfolios for ShoreBank and its affiliates, as well as for outside institutional clients, and I have more than $600 million in assets under my management. In addition, I am responsible for the bank's nontraditional funding, amounting to nearly $1 billion. I am a founding member of the Risk Management Committees of ShoreBank and its parent holding company, ShoreBank Corporation.
Over the years, I have been involved in many of ShoreBank's expansion and consulting ventures. I assisted in the founding of Southern Development Bancorporation in Arkansas, a ShoreBank project initiated by then–governor Bill Clinton. I have provided risk management consulting expertise to community development banks across the United States and to microfinance institutions in Bangladesh and Eastern Europe.
Founded on the South Side of Chicago in 1973, ShoreBank was the first community development and conservation bank in the United States and continues to lead in the field. We finance people, programs, and businesses that help build personal wealth and strong, stable communities.
I live in Wilmette, Illinois, and am married with four children. I received a BA from Carleton College and an MA from the University of Chicago.
